The sexual aspect of UFO (and paranormal/supernatural) encounters is a huge one, an obvious one, and yet, it seems to me we continue to be squeamish around the topic.  Coincidentally, right before I went over to visit The Daily Grail site, where I found the link to Red Pill Junkie's Intrepid post (linked below) I was thinking of a specific and highly personal experiences of my own that I don't think I'll ever share publicly. That's how the title of one of my blogs -- Octopus Confessional -- came about. I was originally going to use that blog to discuss experiences, my own and those of others, that are of that 'squemish" variety. I found I wasn't ready to do that, and the blog ended up a paranormal-conspiracy, para-political blog.

Although my initial exploration of the links between Sex and the Saucers took a very abstract and esoteric approach, there have been previous researchers who opted for a more um, literal view. Otto Binder (1911-1974) who started his career writing pulp fiction and eventually became one of the most important writers for the Golden Age of comics, developed a huge interest in UFOs by the end of his life. He wrote a Saucerian trilogy saga —What We Really Know about Flying Saucers (1967), Flying Saucers Are Watching Us (1968), & Mankind –Child of the Stars (1974)– and as their titles imply he was one of the early proponents of the Ancient Astronaut Theory even before Von Däniken brought the topic to the mainstream radar. Binder based his theory of a direct Extraterrestrial intervention on 2 pieces of ‘evidence’:

A number of people have asked for additional information on the so-called voice from space that blacked out the BBC's Southern TV station for 5 1/2 minutes at 5:12 pm GMT on November 26, 1977 while the following message was delivered slowly and deliberately in a calm authoritative tone. The message interrupted a news bulletin being read by Ivor Mills. The BBC has come up with no positive solutions to the interruption, simply calling it a hoax. MARCEN obtained the message transcript from the BBC for the benefit of the members. The full text, which is reproduced here, is not believed to have been published in the United States previously.

In early July 1947, Brigadier General George F. Schulgen, Chief of the Requirements Intelligence Branch of Army Air Corps Intelligence, met with Special Agent S.W. Reynolds of the FBI with a view to determining if the Army Air Force could solicit the assistance of the Bureau on a regular basis in its investigation of the flying saucer mystery.


General Schulgen advised Reynolds that, “every effort must be undertaken in order to run down and ascertain whether or not the flying discs are a fact and, if so, to learn all about them.”


The foremost thought on General Schulgen’s mind was that the saucers were man-made in origin. He confided in Special Agent Reynolds that, “the first reported sightings might have been by individuals of Communist sympathies with the view to causing hysteria and fear of a secret weapon.” It was for this reason that the Army Air Force sought the FBI’s assistance.

On a fairly frequent basis, I get asked if I think there could be one or more “secret government files” on me. Well, as someone who writes about UFOs in terms of what officialdom knows about the subject, I can never say for sure that such files do not exist. And, one of the reasons for this is that the Freedom of Information Act has clearly demonstrated that certain authors of books on the UFO subject have indeed been secretly watched by officialdom – even to the extent of having their books reviewed by government agencies!

Although not widely known, the FBI has on various occasions taken more than a passing interest in monitoring publications on the UFO subject. To illustrate this, June 1966 saw the first printing by Lyle Stuart Publishers of Frank Edwards’ book, Flying Saucers – Serious Business. By October of that year, Edwards’ book was in its third printing.

I like what Nick has to say about paranormal, Fortean researchers and the development of theory. Redfern writes that he's often asked what evidence is there to support the Collins Elite demonic-UFO theory?

Well, as far as can be ascertained, they didn't find any evidence. Rather, they developed beliefs relative to such matters (which often happens in paranormal-themed situations when hard evidence fails to materialize and the researcher either becomes frustrated by the quest for the truth, or has an emotional need to gravitate to one idea or another - something which often results from weakness and insecurity, or an arrogant and ego-driven conclusion that one is right, despite being unable to prove it).

At the very least, we should give serious consideration to the extent the intelligence community manipulated public perception while authoring UFO and abduction lore. Intelligence interests have been well documented and demonstrated in circumstances such as the Maury Island fiasco and the supposed contactees of the 1950's.

However, as long as we largely refuse to regularly address the Big Brother pink elephant in the room of ufology, truth and objectivity will continue to suffer. This reaches far beyond Leah Haley or any other given case.

Brewer shares some of the comments (including some of my own) left at his blog on his posts about Leah Haley and the possible involvement of government mind control programs. Some readers, like myself, find Brewer's writings on this subject a good thing, while others are downright hostile.

As I've said before, I don't know if Leah Haley is right. But I think there's a lot -- a lot -- there, in terms of government involvement of abduction events.

Gloira Lee (aka Lee-Bryd)

I've said this in the past about the contactees. I'm not the only one of course; but even now, the idea that the contactees were heavily manipulated by humans, and not aliens (so much) isn't considered enough, in my view. Nor is the historical context followed. What I mean is, if it started with the contactees, the manipulations continued and morphed into the "alien abduction" scenario. I hinted at this a bit in my introduction to Tim Beckley's recent reprint of contactee Gloria Lee's book Why We Are Here. (I believe Lee did tap into something supernatural but was tragically manipulated by human forces as well.)

At the same time, all this covert government activity surrounding aliens and human contact doesn't negate the reality of literal aliens. Or, what we call aliens.

Jacque Vallee wrote of hidden human manipulators in his books, Messengers of Deception the classic, but today, it seems this idea is ignored, or even, as Jack Brewer points out, met with downright hostility. Nick Redfern has addressed similar ideas of human elements deep within the government as cause for, or in partnership with non-human entities in his book Final Events. And interpretations of secret experiments as UFO related, such as Roswell, in his Body Snatchers in the Desert: The Horrible Truth at the Heart of the Roswell Story It's a thin line to walk, to consider the reality of government intentionally creating (or co-creating) alien, UFO events in secret, to believing there are underground bases containing vats full of human body parts stirred by aliens as uniformed soldiers stand by.

I keep going back to the news decades ago of Satanic abuses. The media was full of stories of individuals who insisted they had, upon regressions, recovered memories of horrific abuses, all within a Satanic setting. Animal sacrifice, human sacrifice, sexual and physical abuse of children and adults, devotion to Satan, these memories were buried until they erupted under regression. Then those tales faded away, and we began hearing more and more of alien abductions. Time lines overlap; the 1961 Barney and Betty Hill case is considered the "first" alien abduction and predates the Satanic abuse events, as do the earlier contactee encounters.  But I've often wondered if the controllers were experimenting with different themes to deliver their experiments. Satanic rituals here, alien abductions there. Maybe that's ridiculous, maybe not. Maybe there's some truth there, maybe not. As I've said, it's possible a cover was needed so different settings were auditioned. It's possible they decided the alien thing worked for a long list of reasons, including the hide in plain sight idea. In other words, if there really are aliens, (and I think there are) why not further employ disinfo by using the very thing so many -- including the government responsible for these distractions -- deny exist?

I have to add, that for those who've experienced these things, they are very real. They are real. (I'll refer to my own missing time experiences: whatever, whoever, caused those missing time episodes in my life, the fact remains: my memory was fucked with, and it wasn't by me. That's real. That's wrong, whether aliens did it or humans.) Because there might be the possibility these events were manipulated by humans, or even completely created by humans (which I doubt), that is no doing of the experiencer. We have to remain absolutely sensitive to, and respectful of, the witnesses. We have to really listen to their stories, and not just wait for places where we can insert our own ideas of how things are.

One of the most outrageous, but certainly intriguing, theories surrounding the early years of the Contactee movement suggests the Contactees were in the clandestine employ of the United States’ Intelligence community.

Their secret role: to spread outlandish – and utterly fictitious – tales of trips to the Moon and Venus with long-haired aliens. Their purpose: to make the entire UFO subject seem ridiculous, and to bury the truly unexplained and mystifying reports amongst a mass of largely unbelievable tales of cosmic contact. As controversial as it may seem, however, when we look for connections between the Contactees and elements of U.S. officialdom, we do find them.

Redfern is correct that there's a "U.S. officialdom" connection with the contactees. It is outlandish, but I think there's something to the idea that many researchers have ignored, or at least, not considered seriously.

Nick has some interesting information in his article that supports the theory the government had some involvement in the contactee experience.

However, -- though I'm not expert at all and this is just my speculation -- I think there was some kind of truth to what the contactees were saying; some non-human energy was present, manipulating experience, and the government knew about it, in turn doing their own manipulation of contactee communications. Not to say I think contactees literally went to Venus or, that the entities that said they came from Venus, Mars, or Jupiter really did come from those planets. But I do think non-human intelligences were present and responsible for much of what the contactees said they encountered. With help from government, human agencies.

Rights and Raelians: Court Rules Filmmakers Lied About Raelians

On Binnall of America, for my Trickster's Realm column:Rights and Raelians. A federal court recently ruled that two film makers intentionally lied in their documentary about the Raelians. I've been following this story for years, since 2005 when they started their campaign against the Raelians. Now, I'm not a particular fan of the Raelians but that is beside the point. UFO Land has ignored this story, mainly because the Raelians are an embarrassment, I suspect. But that fact doesn't change the religious and political fanaticism of Abdullah Hashem and his partner Joseph McGowen and their libel and slander.

All that's beside the point; Hashem's attack on the Raelians wasn't due to altruistic reasons, but a religious attack. He was deeply offended by the Raelians free spirited sexual views and their interpretations of God/god. That's all it was ever about. One religious fanatic's attack. Last week a court ruled in favor of the Raelians:

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A California federal court has found that two vocal critics of the Raelian Movement (www.rael.org) fabricated stories about the organization. The court awarded undisclosed damages to the Raelians, including the return of film footage.

Abdullah Hashem and Joseph McGowen appeared on Fox News and other media outlets in 2005-2006, saying they saw people recruited through sex and that acts of pedophilia took place at a Raelian seminar in 2005.

Raelians have claimed for years that the two men lied about what they reported, and they have now been legally vindicated. On September 15, the federal court issued a final judgment against Hashem, who was also ordered to return all film footage taken at the seminar to the Raelian Movement. A copy of the ruling is available upon request under:

They've gone through a couple of changes with the design, making it New Agey, all lotus like and mingled with light and love and the ancient meaning of the swastika, but, still . . .

Old UFO Magazine Cover

I've been going through and rearranging a room -- fondly called The Room of Doom, or Hell --  we use as a study/library. Such a mess! But getting better. I found this issue of UFO Magazine from 1987. vol. 2, no. 2. Pretty groovy cover!

I remember this very well. It was the first issue of UFO Magazine I bought. I found it at Eugene's then only New Age bookstore, called Perelandra. They were on east 11th, right by the University, and a few doors down from a movie theater. The bookstore later moved to the downtown mall about a mile or so west, and the theater closed down. (Now we have only multi-plexes at the two shopping malls.) Later, Perlandra closed its doors, which was sad. We still have one New Age bookstore in this town; Stargate, though, on my last visit which was a few years ago, they didn't have much in the way of UFO material.

About the bookstore Perelandra: I remember they used a different spelling, but don't recall how they spelt it. I think it was Perlandra, but not sure.  I do remember asking the owner about it once, she told me they had spelled it that way intentionally and changed the spelling because of a numerology reading she had done regarding the bookstore.

At UFO Digest, Sean Casteel reviews Tim Beckley's reprint of two stories of two female contactees, Dana Howard and Gloria Lee. (I wrote the intro for the Gloria Lee book.) As Sean points out, there are UFO researchers who reject the contactee era as embarrassing nonsense, or, as he puts it, attack Tim Beckley for exploitation:

1957, sci-fiction book Vanguard to Venus, about a ship stopping off at the Moon where, the jacket flap tells us, the "Venutians" appear:

"An interception was made by the Venutians which promised both treachery and ultimate disaster, a promise which almost became reality."

I haven't read the book, but I'm curious as to see how the Venutians are depicted. Different than the usual benign and wise space brother/space sister Venusians we're familiar with from many contactee encounters. Of course, the contactee stories were non-fiction/biographical events; this book is fiction.

Thanks to Nick Redfern who sent me the following link to this story of a UFO and MIB encounter from 1981. It happened in New Zealand, in 1981. After the witness saw a UFO, with his family, he was visited by a strange man:

Flying object' followed family | Stuff.co.nz: "introducing himself as Mr Wright, an 'investigator' from Christchurch and dressed in a musty suit, he warned them not to contact or approach the object, Mr Thew said.

The man's behaviour was peculiar: he drank a cup of boiling tea in one gulp, read a page by scanning from bottom to top and knew the name of their pet dog before it could be told to him."

"The Washington Post Makes Fun of Military Officers" on A.D.

On the excellent After Disclosure site, Bryce Zabel writes about the Washington Post's descion to send, not an investigative serious reporter, but one who writes the light, humorous pieces, to the September 27 National Press Club's conference, where retired military personnel spoke about national security issues, and UFOs, at nuclear sites. For some reason, this topic is still considered trivial by just about everyone outside of UFOlogy. Read the comments on uber-skeptic boards like the JREF on this issue, where nit picking over terms is considered more important than the fact of Unidentified craft in our skies. They choose to focus on the irrational idea of ET, rather than the idea our own government or other human forces, are responsible for much of UFO activity, experiments on civilians, etc. This is not to imply aliens are not real, about, or also responsible. Regardless of aliens or humans, the fact is, this has been happening and pretending it isn't real is the irrational reality.

Contactee Breaks Silence From Church of UFOlogy

Interesting story of "sky ships" that cleaned up nulcear waste and other contactee experiences. The contactee is now in her sixties and lives in Smokey National Park. Contactee Breaks Lifelong Silence.

Many times the plant had toxic spills. When that happened, the creeks and rivers would have a green glow maybe six feet or more above the water. That’s when we would see a sky ship come in, hover above the water and, like a big vacuum, suck the green stuff off the water.
The sky ships that came to clean up the toxic spills each looked like a dome with a ring-like plate on the bottom. They were a dark charcoal color and huge – about the size of a large Greyhound Bus. If you put your hand out at arm’s length, you could not have covered the ship – that’s how close we would see them.

Esoteric Claims to Fame, Or: My Cousin Was a MIB

An item on Lon Sticker’s Phantoms and Monsters about Elvis and his life long interest in UFOs inspired me to write about the time I met Elvis in Los Angles when I was working at the Free Clinic.  (see my post on UFO Mystic.) That was one of my brushes with fame, and esoteric in a round about way, since Elvis had a strong curiosity about UFOs and believed in extraterrestrial life.

Another esoteric brush with fame is, I think, waaaaaaaay cool. It concerns Boris Badenov. Yes, that Boris Badenov! Legend has it that the character actor Akim Tarmioff was the inspiration for the spy character Boris Badenov of the  Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.  Here is what a Wikipedia entry has to say about Akim’s inspiration:

Badenov's name is a play on that of the 16th-century Russian Tsar Boris Godunov ("bad enough" vs. "good enough"). His accent and explosive temper are an homage to Hollywood actor Akim Tamiroff, especially Tamiroff's role in The Great McGinty, a 1940 movie directed by Preston Sturges.

Akim (Mikhailovich) Tamiroff, the Russian born character actor who appeared in dozens of films and television shows was often typecast as a Mexican or Greek, among other ethnic characters. He played spies, cops, thieves; all manner of roles.  Among the films Akim appeared in:For Whom the Bell Tolls, 1943, Lord Jim, 1965, Oceans 11, 1960, Topaki, 1964, and dozens more.

Akim was married to my grandfather’s niece, actress Tamara Shayne. My mother lived with them when she was in her late teens (that would be in late 1940s, early 1950s) when she first arrived in Los Angeles from Oregon.  I met them once when I was little; I remember Tamara as being stand offish , but Akim was pretty nice, very funny and playful.

Truly, how cool is it that one of the iconic cartoon characters, Boris Badenov, was based on a family member? (Another fun esoteric synchronistic fact: my mother’s name is a variation of Natasha.) 


Is it fair to say Boris was a MIB? No, it just sounded good for the title. Boris was short, fat, and hardly MIB like in behavior or appearance. He was an Eastern European/Russian spy, bumbling, the bad guy, created during the Cold War, when the spy business was everywhere. It still is; and actually, we’ve come back around to Russian spies recently, with movies like SALT and the plethora of Russian spies on television shows.

I have other claims to esoteric fame, which I'll write about in future columns.

Ida Kannenberg: Contactee, Channeler, Writer

I just saw Mike Clelland's lovely post at hidden experience (Ida Kanneberg: Lovely Contactee) on Ida Kanneberg's passing in May of this year.  She was 95.

Ida wrote several books about her experiences with channeled ETs and entities, UFO sightings, and most recently,  her contributions to My Brother is a  Hairy Man, with co-author Lee  Trippet about UFO/paranormal Bigfoot encouters.

Ida lived here in Oregon. I never did get the opportunity to meet her, though I did receive a nice eamil from her a few years ago. I have loved her books and in fact, had just finsihed reading her Project Earth a couple of weeks ago.

I always felt that Ida was a brave woman for being so open about her experiences and her philosophies.

Here's something about Ida from UFO Experiences blog:

In 1940 Ida May Kannenberg met a UFO while traveling through the desert outside Los Angeles. She was tricked into thinking her help was needed and as she thought she was giving blood they were putting implants into her body. She met some of the people she’d later be taking psychic dictation from but forgot all about them when the voices began in 1968.

Ida’s communicators are time travelers from the time of Atlantis and a being from the beginning of time on Earth (Thoth). Her closest collaborator, or “live-in companion”, was Hweig, now deceased, who was the child of a time traveler and a Russian of royal birth.

Since then, Ida has gone from nearly being driven mad by them to becoming the most organized and systematic thinker and writer on UFO and psychic events. Although Ida never takes what they tell her at face value, her experiences with them during the last 37 years have made her extremely interesting and knowledgeable. At 90 she is the Sybil and Jung of this era of UFOs and abductions by aliens.

I referenced Ida in an article on another Oregon contactee I wrote about for my Trickster's Realm column on BoA. (Psychic Communications with Aliens and UFOs: More Oregon Tales.) In writing about "Jane," a woman I met many years ago and who had her own UFO and abduction experiences in, among other places, the Gold Hill area, "Jane" refers to Ida Kanneberg:

Jane quotes Oregon UFO author Ida Kannenberg's UFOs and the Psychic Factor  to help explain her ideas about her interactions with aliens. For example, Jane refers to page 187 of Kanneberg's book, where Kannenberg points out some of the ways extraterrestrials interact with us:

Hallucinatory craft and occupants due to hypnosis of the contactees ... craft/personalities are unseen, but their presence detected. These are psychic manifestations ... remote contact by telepathy ...Ida Kannenberg

Ida Kannenberg has been in contact with alien entities since the nineteen seventies, These communications involve both aliens, as in ET, and Bigfoot. In the book My Brother is a Hairy Man,  which she co-authored with Bigfoot researcher Lee Trippet, she writes that, during a conversation with Lee in the beginning stages of the book, and Ida's potential involvement, (for she was unsure due to her unfamiliarity with the topic of Bigfoot) a psychic communication came through:

Just about there a telepathic voice broke into our discussion to give us some specific directions. I have been steadily interacting with such voices since 1977. This was a new one. He introduced himself as Maez, the head of the Council that monitors Bigfoot. From the planet Arcturus yet! That would explain the UFOs that have been seen in the vicinity of our subject.

I am grateful for Ida's willingness to share her many experiences with the rest of us; and thankfully,  her gifts continue to intrigue us, as well as inspire us, in her writings.

The Giant Rock Project

This came to me by way of Adam Gorightly, who posted the item on Facebook, and I'm passing it along.

The wondrous Giant Rock, in the Mojave Desert, is under the BLM care. Funds are scarce, and vandals and other elements have done damage to this icon of the Contactee era, and amazing natural artifact. Actress Patrica Neal: Rest in Peace

Actress Patricia Neal passed away at age 84 from lung cancer recently. She had suffered greatly in her life; but she also had what sounds like a strong and loving family. I think the following is beautiful:

"She had a beautiful death with her daughters," Warren Langton, a longtime friend, sometimes assistant, and frequent traveling companion of the actress, told The Martha's Vineyard Times.

It's a nice article and bio of her life in the Martha's Vineyard Times: Patricia Neal, 84.

Patricia Neal was fantastic in many films, Hud being one of course. In keeping with Vintage U.F.O.'s theme, we'd like to remember her in the classic 1951 film The Day The Earth Stood Still, starring Michael Rennie as the alien Klaatu and Neal as Helen Benson whose character spoke these famous words: "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto"

Bruce Duensing Ponders the Contactees

Bruce Duensing, at Intangible Materiality, on the contactees. A very different perspective: The Gravitational Field of the Contactees.
In thinking about what do "they" want, Bruce puts forth:

And so we ask, "What do they want?" Consider for a moment a one word reply. Nothing.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. For much of UFO, anomalous and paranormal interactions, maybe the answer is that "they" don't want anything. They just are.

Bruce considers the interactions between contactees and the entities and presents some interesting perspectives;for example, are our desires and anxieties contributors to the experience?

I can never do Duensing justice so I'll stop now. Visit his site and read his article if you want something new to turn over regarding the contactee experience.

I'll just say that, while I remain utterly inarticulate as to why abductees, contactees and other experiencers of high strangeness should be considered seriously and not just as some quaint yet embarrassing aberration better left alone if one is a "serious" UFO researcher, it is important to explore this realm, without the finality of the decree "they were all frauds."

When I was a kid, The Outer Limits was at the top of my list for favorite TV shows. Even though many an episode scared me I remained intrigued. I never missed an episode, and many of those shows stayed with me. For example, the bug eyed egg headed aliens in the woods, or this one, shown here. An amazing show, a great show, and the remake doesn't come close.

Bruce Rux on BOA

Fantastic job by Tim Binnall at Binnall of America, who interviewed Bruce Rux, author of Hollywood vs The Aliens and Architects of the Underworld -- also, Rux is an actor, playwright, . . . yet he doesn't have a "web presence" as Tim put it, and he's kind of a mysterious figure. Adding to this intriguing aura is the interesting fact Rux works for Wackenhut, which, as any conspiracy esoteric Fortean junkie knows, is a juicy tidbit, since the shadowy MIB like implications of that corporation is well known, as Rux himself happily acknowledges. This is a three part interview; much to think about as Rux and Tim discuss the intentional disinformation planted by government into our media and popular culture.

UFOs of the 19th Century

UFO's of the 19th Century, by Cristina Aguil. Very interesting! Several items about UFO sightings from the 1800s. Here's an excerpt:

Most fur trappers may tell tales of Indians, or bears, or mountain lions, but Lumley's account of a flying saucer that crashed into Cadotte Pass was among the most explicit and remains a mystery to this day. It is said that debris from the crash may still be up there, but few there has been no findings since. Nevertheless the story has remained one of the most mysterious of the 1800s.

Lumley was about 175 miles above the Upper Missouri in Great Falls Montana. He was on his way back to his camp site when he saw a "bright luminous body in the heavens." It went rapidly into an eastern direction and was plainly visible for about five seconds. As it flew Lumley saw it burst into an explosion in the sky and he later heard an explosion. It was shortly followed by a strong wind through the forest like a tornado, and the event left the air smelling like sulfur.

spy-fi channel: Man From U.N.C.L.E.

A new favorite of mine, the spy-fi channel, has the following item on The Man From U.N.C.L.E., a show I loved when I was a kid. I even joined the Man From U.N.C.L.E. fan club. (I know, geekdom starts early.)

Then of course there was the Girl From U.N.C.L.E., remember that?

spy-fi channel also has something neat on the 1945 serial Secret Agent X-9, something I was unfamiliar with, starring Lloyd Bridges, before his Sea Hunt days. (another favorite show of mine when I was a kid.)

MIB Saturday

Quirky synchronicities today involving black SUVs. We saw two identical black SUVs, one behind the other, in the North part of town as we were doing errands. We made jokes about MIBS of course; I know, we're real UFO geeks. Much later, as we turned onto our street, we saw another black SUV just like the two previous ones; no markings on it but a sheriff -- who looked very serious, and he had a big moustache not seen since Tom Selleck was popular -- was behind the wheel. More MIB jokes, with a brief discussion on if that qualified as MIB or not. (It did. . .) As we were getting out of our car, another black SUV drove by, the man driving was looking intently at the houses as he drove by. He was probably just enjoying the front yards with all their roses. . . any other theory would be paranoid.

Just read on Christopher Mills' Atomic Pulp blog that he's started another blog called The Spy-Fi Channel, which is a cool name and a cooler idea. The blog is an homage to spy movies and shows.

"Lost" Adamski Film Might Change UFO History

'LOST' documentary changes UFO history presented by Larry Lowe, Phoenix UFO Examiner on Neil Gould's research:

A long forgotten documentary which includes an analysis of a rare film taken by George Adamski, an icon from the early days of the modern age of UFO sightings, has surfaced on YouTube thanks to the effort of historian Neil Gould.

The 7 segment YouTube film is well worth watching in its entirety, but a particularly compelling segment discusses a seldom seen film, originally shot by Adamski himself in the presence of Madeline Rotterfor in the back yard of her house in Silver Spring, Maryland, in February 1965.

What the segment shows is the analysis done on the film, which--along with the testimony of Rotterfor, Sir Desmond Leslie and others who knew Adamski personally--makes a compelling case for the authenticity of the non-human origin of the saucer seen to dance in the sky.

Much more, a lot to consider, and very well the time to take a look.

Vintage Book Cover

I have this book in my collection; a neat find at the Goodwill awhile back. I remember the TV show,starring Roy Thinnes, who played David Vincent, an architect who found out that aliens are, indeed, among us. The show aired from 1967 to 1968.

I love these kinds of movies, and monster maker king Ray Harryhausen was the best. Some classic images from the 1955 movie "It Came From Beneath the Sea."

How many blogs does Nick Redfern have? I can't keep up; he also has "My Strange Blog" which is very nicely done, pretty spiffy. Anyway, Redfern writes about a classic image in UFO lore. I've always loved this image too, even though it's not what it appears to be. . .

Redfern is the author of the book Body Snatchers in the Desert, which puts forth a theory equally strange as any ideas about ET, though, if true, certainly more insidious.

Insidious Round About Book Banning

A law that was passed in January seems to be strangely under reported. That law concerns vintage children's books; it's illegal to sell them. Vintage meaning any book printed before 1985.

The reason given for this law has to do with lead content in ink.

This law has caused great confusion among libraries, book sellers, etc.

It's not as straight forward as it might seem; there's much more to this just below the surface.

New Movie: Alien Trespass

R. W. Goodwin's Alien Trespass sounds like fun. A new movie opens today that's an homage to 1950s type sci-fi flicks. Goodwin directed the first few seasons of The X-Files. I like that Goodwin didn't use CGI but "real rubber" and didn't use any camera lens created after 1957.

UFO Witnesses, Northern Idaho, September 2000

While on an overnight hunting trip, four men witnessed an enormous, triangular object hovering 200 feet above them. The report they filed with the National UFO Reporting Center reads: “My brother and I ... like to think we are normal, educated, businesspeople. ... We all have excellent eyesight. This was also a ‘dry’ camp. Although this exceeded the limits of our known comprehension we felt privileged to have witnessed this most incredible piece of equipment.” Two of these eyewitnesses will relate their incredible experience.

Will Jima, 8 Track Tapes

Received an email from someone looking for "books and tapes. . by mysterious seller of UFO spoken word LP and 8 track tapes, Will Jima." Jima made recordings of his experiences in the 1970s.

Jima seems like an interesting person; this is from the site 8 Track of the Moment:"

"Secret Government Information Suppressed
One of the Most Amazing Recordings Ever Made"

This tape was recorded and distributed independently by one Will Jima . It seems old Will had a deep conviction that the government was suppressing amazing information about UFOs way back in 1974 and decided to put out his own 8-track to let the world in on his fantastic discovery.

This guy was obviously way ahead of his time what with all the X-Files and turn-of-the-millennia UFO mania our culture is in the grips of these days. Mr. Jima had some pretty clear answers to some very relevant UFO questions. The label of the 8-track speaks for itself. The cover image is of--well I don't know what--but presumably it's a UFO.

I knew that if anyone had something about Jima, it'd be Adam Gorightly; he has an excerpt from one of Jima's tapes here. Great listening; I love the background music!

Ann Druffel on BOA

This is a bit overdue, I just haven't had time until today to listen to the interview, but Tim Binnall's recent guest on Binnall of America is Ann Druffel. This is one interview you cannot miss! Ann is co-author (with D. Scott Rogo) of The Tujunga Canyon Contacts, and FIRESTORM: DR. JAMES E. McDONALD's FIGHT FOR UFO SCIENCE, published in 2003. Tunjunga Canyon was one of the first books I read on the UFO/abduction subject, and it was one of the books that threw me into this area.

Ann Druffel, and this interview, is a great resource into UFO history. Her ideas and experience, her insights, into the abduction phenomema are very interesting and refreshing.

Going Through the Files: Melinda Leslie

I was going through my files and found all kinds of things I'd forgotten about. Like this flyer promoting an appearance of Melinda Leslie, abductee, at the local community college (Lane Coummunity College, where I got my associate degree so long ago.) I didn't make it but held on to the flyer. I'm not sure when this is from, but I'd say the late 1980s.
